Caravansaries were set up along the silk road to provide sanctuary for travelers, a safe haven. Similar to the posh metropolitan inns of today, caravansaries welcomed travelers from different paths. They would gather in the central arcade under the stars and would tell tales of their life at work, home, and their vision of the world tomorrow. At a time when people had limited access to information, caravansaries fostered openness, curiosity, cultural exchanges, goods, ideas, customs, religion, and commerce between human beings. Individuals formed true connections that brought worlds together.
